Family & Community Empowerment (FCE) Specialist
Job Summary The FCE Specialist is responsible for programming to support member district staff and parents in assisting their students to achieve and sustain academic success through facilitating and coordinating meetings and events at schools sites, encourage and promote family participation in programs, and develop and maintain school and community partnerships.
The FCE Specialist position is a full-time, temporary eight month position through June 21, 2013. Salary range is competitive and dependent in part on education and experience. Start date is negotiable, preferably by November 26, 2012.
Minimum Qualifications The FCE Specialist must have a genuine interest in working with staff and parents to influence and support student academic success; ability to link families and community resources; support child advocacy, understand conflict resolution; mentoring and motivational skills; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Education, Counseling or related field is required; with a minimum of two years experience in the area of parents and families, community resources and multicultural populations. Prior experience in an educational setting is strongly preferred.
